 Plant Characteristics: Perennial, woody at base, to about 70 mm.; lvs. rhombic-ovate to deltoid, basal, the blades 8-15 cm. long, subtruncate at base, on petioles exceeding the blades; scapes unwinged in 2-fld. spikelets, infl. much and diffusely branched, 4-6 dm. high; calyx purplish-blue, pubescent on ribs; petals pale yellow.

 

Habitat:  Cultivated and occasionally established along the coast.  March-Sept.

 

Name:  Limonium, ancient Greek name, probably from meadow.  (Bailey 786).  The species name is in honor of Dr. G.V. Perez of Orotava.  (Bailey 788).

 

General:  Uncommon in the study area having only been found a few times; once along Backbay Dr. between the intersection of San Joaquin Hills Rd. with Backbay Dr. and Big Canyon and another at Shellmaker Id.  (my comment).
