Stems, 4-16 in. long repeatedly fork in pairs. Leaves are unequally fan-shaped, opposite, entire or 2-lobed; leafy floral bracts are deeply notched with a single flower. Pterostegia drymarioides A prostrate slender-stemmed annual, scattered to locally common on banks and in openings in shady areas under shrubs into which it may climb, in coastal sage scrub chaparral and coast bluff scrub, especially following fire (Roberts). Found in Orange County at Dana Point Headlands and occasionally on bluffs at Upper Newport Bay.
