Strigulose evening primrose

Camissonia strigulosa

A 2-10 inch slender-stemmed downy annual found on dry slopes and sandy places in chaparral.  The tiny yellow flowers are about 1/4 inch across with the typical 4 sepals, 4 petals, 8 stamens and ball-shaped stigma.  Leaves are nearly linear, 1/16 in. x 1 in. in size.  The seedpods are cylindrical and snake-like, 1-1/2 in. long. There are often smaller leaves in the axils of lower leaves.
