Habitat: Escape from cultivation.
Blooms mostly in spring and through the summer.
Name: Rosa, the ancient
Latin name.
General:
Rare in the study area, having been found only once and this at a low
elevation along the path between 23rd St. and Northstar Beach.
At this location, I have found Rosa, Pyracantha, Plumbago,
Hedera and Erythrina, all escapes from cultivation.
Whether they were planted here or thrown from above, I do not know.
All occur at only a few feet above the high tide line.
(my comments).
More than 100 species to which thousands of names have been given, mostly
in the temp. parts of the northern hemisphere.
