Pacific Willow Salix lasiandra var. lasiandra A medium to large tree-like species that, due to urbanization, is now quite uncommon in Orange County. Three male trees exist along Aliso Creek in Foothill Ranch, and two female trees and at least three males survive in Arroyo Trabuco near Crown Valley Parkway. The plant may persist at other locations as well. This species is most noticable by for its very large leaves, often eight or more inches in length. S. l. lasiandra is the only variety of this species that is recorded for Orange County. Back to Salicaceae of Orange County, California |
