Parish's Broomrape

Orobanche parishii ssp. parishii

Native to the coast and mountains of California and Baja California. It lacks leaves and chlorophyll, and is parasitic on the roots of other plants, usually shrubs of the Asteraceae such as Menzies' goldenbush (Isocoma menziesii).
